Simplified Scrapbooking

Lets face it. We’re always looking for ways to free up more space in our homes. Why? Becuase nobody likes clutter, well, at least no one that I know. And if you have been doing scrapbooking for more than 5 minutes then you know how important storage and organizing for your scrapbooking supplies is. There is nothing more frustrating then having a creative idea pop in your mind and then spending hours rummaging through your scrapbooking materials trying to find that piece your looking for. So, lets get to some of the ideas that will allow you to create scrapbooking storage in small spaces.

Something that I have mentioned before is using that space you probably never even think about. Out of sight, out of mind, right? One of the more common out-of-sight areas would be under the bed. This is the one that I personally use. You can find containers that are just the right height for your scrapbook storage down at your local general store, like target or walmart. The nice thing about those containers is that they usually dont cost a whole lot and work like a charm. Other out-of-sight areas that would work perfect for scrapbook storage might include unused or nearly unused cabinets. You might even be able to combine two half full cabinets and devote the freed up one to scrapbooking. Another spot for scrapbook storage will depend on how accesible they are, but you might try to use your attic or garage. I know most people could free up a on of space by just organizing those areas, or even adding shelves. You could also empty out a sock drawer. No one knows your house better then you, and I’m sure some other places for scrapbook storage probably popped in your head while reading these ideas.

Another option for scrapbooking storage might be an empty closet or wall. If you can devote a part of a closet that would probably be best beacuse you can usually find a container that will fit in most closets. And most closets already have built in shelves, and you can always close the closet door to keep your house looking uncluttered. But, if all your closets are full, I would be willing to bet that you at least have an empty wall in your house that you could use for scrapbook storage. With that empty wall you could put up shelves, or use those plastic containers that look like a drawer. If you buy a few of those and stack them on top of each other, you can usually make it look pretty classy, at least classy for scrapbook storage ;D. Obviously the wall approach will be more work, but it still can be pretty effective and neat looking. Don’t forget, scrapbook organization is vital too!

The way you keep your scrapbook storage organized is important as well. You want to keep it neat, mainly for saving you time, but also for looks in case you cant tuck away your storage somewhere. Ziploc bags are a good way to go for small items, like beads. When it comes to larger items, you can just put them in plastic bins. Most plastic bins come in all shapes and sizes. Then all you gotta do is find a cool cutout or a good picture that will help remind you whats in the bin and then glue it on there. You should also have a bin for just the basic scrapbooking items, like glue, scissors, markers, etc. Keeping your scrapbooking storage area neat and tidy will help save you both time and headaches, along with possibly freeing up more space, which is what our main goal was to begin with!
