Simplified Scrapbooking

Is scrapbooking something you’re looking to get in to? Chances are that if you’re new to scrapbooking that you have a ton of questions, mainly on how to get started, and what kind of things go into a scrapbook. Well, we’re gonna try and give you some good tips here to get you started. You see, scrapbooking is really simple beacause it all boils down to creativity. And yes, for those of you who think you dont have a creative bone in your body, scrapbooking will bring it out. So here are some ideas for scrapbooking.

It would be best to start with what a scrapbook is, for those of you who may not know. Its basically a collection of memories put together in a binder or book. These memories can range from crazy photos of  out having a good time to a napkin you got from a cool restaurant from last years road trip. Scrapbooks are a good way to preserve your memories. Now, when it comes to getting started, you gotta start by deciding to go with either a pre-made binder, with scrapbooking templates, and with everything done except the personal entires, or you can buy just a plain old binder and personalize it. I prefer the latter for a couple of reasons. The first being its cheaper :D, and the second reason is that you can put your own spin on it, trully making it your own. Plus, you can find scrapbook templates online, including here. To be completely honest, you can probably only go with creating your own if you have the time. But dont worry, there are plenty of wonderful scrapbooks that are already to go, so you wont have to sacrifice your end result!

Now that we got the foundation of your scrapbook ready to go, its time to start scrapbooking! But, something that was totally spaced that should have been talked about first was your theme. You need to decide and pick out a theme. Why is that the one of the first things you need to do? Becuase it will effect how the rest of your scrapbooking goes. It will effect which basic setup you use, it will effect how you layout your pages. It effects just about everything. Decide your theme first!

So, you have your scrapbook theme and kind of the direction you want to take your scrapbook. Now its time for the fun part. The part we’ve all been waiting for….. CREATIVITY! This is where you will add your memories, your personal stuff, but in a fun creative way. For instance, lets say you start a scrapbook for your kids graduation. You would want to round up all the old report cards and put them in order, and then maybe highlight any funny notes from their teachers that are on the report cards. Or lets say you want to start a wedding scrapbook. You could take pictures of your honeymoon and label them day by day, and include little things from the place, or places you visited. Anything that will trigger a good time is perfect.

Anyways, you can see that the world of scrapbooking is only limited by your imagination. Scrapbooking is an awesome way to bring out your creative side and have a blast while doing so. And if you’re on a budget, the nice thing about scrapbooking is that it can be made of just that, scraps!. Get some old magazines and cut out all the cool pictures and what not.
